About
I am a licensed clinical psychologist and I specialize in helping adults and adolescents overcome sexual addiction/compulsion, chronic relationship problems, and trauma. I earned my doctorate from Widener University’s Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology. I have been a therapist working in a variety of clinical settings for over a decade. I spent six years working primarily with individuals whose lives have been ravaged by addiction, trauma and abuse. My most recent focus has been working primarily with veterans struggling with a variety of mental health concerns.
In addition to my doctorate, I have also sought additional training and specialization in the areas of sexual addiction, financial disorders, trauma treatment, couples therapy, and work with military members and their families. I am also a National Register Health Service Provider in Psychology.
Treatment Philosophy and Approach
I believe that healing is possible and I take great pleasure making that possibility a reality! In my practice I work to help my clients to recognize their strengths and use those strengths to improve their lives. I provide a safe, supportive and nonjudgmental space for us to tackle whatever concern brought you into my office.
Each of my clients comes to me with a unique set of strengths and struggles and I tailor my treatments accordingly. My basic therapeutic approach involves helping clients to understand how their past experiences have impacted their present life circumstances. I believe that one cannot make changes if one cannot see and understand what already exists. I also employ a variety of therapeutic techniques that fit both the client and the problem at hand. My approach is best described as integrative and client-centered.
I absolutely love what I do and am ever humbled and honored to be invited into the lives of my clients. I treat this relationship with the utmost respect. My passion is helping you to realize your own power.
Professional Training and Affiliations
I am committed to the idea of life-long learning so I regularly attend training workshops and symposia. The purpose is two-fold: (1) to keep my therapeutic skills sharp and (2) to make sure I can offer my clients the most current treatments being supported by the research in the field.
